Calling All Villa Owners: How to Choose a Home Lift
“No home lift, no villa.” As people pursue a higher quality of life, many villa owners are adding a high-quality home lift.

1. Do your homework first
The market offers traction lifts, traction platform lifts, screw-driven lifts, positive-drive lifts and hydraulic lifts. Compare their pros and cons in terms of cost, safety, durability, speed and site conditions. If possible, visit a showroom and try the lifts in person.
2. Installation location and lift dimensions
The location determines the lift type, whether a shaft is needed, the space available and whether a pit is required. Screw-driven lifts are flexible: they fit in the middle of a staircase, beside the stairs or against a wall, with no separate shaft required.
3. Match the lift to your décor
Floor heights and circulation differ from home to home, so detailed measurement and a tailored design are needed. Designers favour screw-driven lifts for their high adaptability and the way they enhance an overall interior scheme. HOUSTY home lifts offer many custom colours and door opening options.

4. Car layout and dimensions
To save space, HOUSTY home lifts offer 17 custom sizes, from 935 mm × 1011 mm (smallest) to 1495 mm × 1486 mm (largest).
5. Pit and headroom
Screw-driven lifts need no pit, or only a 5 cm shallow pit using the finished floor. No machine room is needed at the top; headroom of just 2200 mm is enough. HOUSTY also offers a custom half-height door for 1800 mm headroom.

6. Complete safety features
Lifts from reputable manufacturers are generally safe, but check for a full set of safety devices: automatic levelling on power failure, emergency braking, fire emergency stop, battery monitoring, overload protection, backup power and emergency lowering, to cover incidents over years of use.
7. Running speed
Speeds of 0.15–0.3 m/s comply with EU home lift standards, saving energy and reducing noise.
8. Lift finishes
Some manufacturers include finishes; others charge extra for upgrades. With their clean, premium design, screw-driven lifts come with an integrated glass panoramic shaft or steel structure shaft and need no additional interior decoration.
